Ahmedabad: The temperature is soaring. With 44.3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, Ahmedabad witnessed the second hottest day in 10 years. It was on April 30, 2002 that the city had experienced 45 degrees Celsius.
However, Ahmedabad had experienced 46.2 degrees Celsius - highest ever temperature - on April 27, 1958.
But in Gujarat, Amreli remained the hottest place on Wednesday with 44.4 degrees Celsius. Officials of meteorological department say the heat wave is likely to prevail across the state, including Kutch and coastal area of Saurashtra. It will be a sunny bright day on Thursday, says the department.
Officials also say that the temperature might go down by one degree on Thursday. “The heat wave is a result of absent humidity. Moreover, the wind is coming from Rajasthan making things worse for Gujarat,” said IMD’s Manorama Mohanty.
